Description: Scarlett Brebion Kelemen, a French pianist living in Costa Rica, is the pianist of the National Symphony Orchestra, and a frequent performer in solo recitals and chamber music. Since her arrival in 1984, her interest in Latin American music has steadily grown. It started with Costa Rican music and the recording of Confluencia, the first-ever compact disc entirely dedicated to piano music by Costa Rican composers. As her studies and performances of piano scores from several Latin American countries continued, she decided to start the recording of the "Piano Latinoamericano" series. The pieces included in this series are written, either by Latin American composers, or by composers of other nations who were inspired by Latin America. The first volume, an enhanced CD, includes works from Argentina, Brazil, Costa Rica and Cuba, and also pieces written by Norwegian and Spanish composers. It includes as well a twelve page booklet with texts in Spanish, French and English; photos; and a video-clip based on the "Nocturno" by the Costa Rican composer Julio Fonseca and filmed at the National Theater in San José, Costa Rica.
